John is a retired secondary biology teacher and teacher educator. He completed a masters degree in plant sciences at Cornell University in 1964, but only began field study of Indiana plants ten years ago. Because he is an amateur botanist he still has much to learn about plant identification. Joann is a retired French teacher who enjoys walks in nature; she has learned to identify many wildflowers, but makes no claims to being a wildflower expert.
